Re-Emerging in the Time of COVID-19

Over the past year and a half, it seems that change has been the only constant. Now, with activities returning to in-person status, things are changing again! We certainly can’t change change, but we can take care of ourselves when it happens.

Start the Conversation

In this video Miss Caitlyn will explore COVID-19 and some of the changes that young people might be experiencing because of it. Viewers will have the opportunity to name some the changes happening in their life and explore their feelings about. Using theatre techniques to guide our exploration, Miss Caitlyn will share some facts about COVID-19 and how we can keep ourselves and others healthy. Then, viewers will explore ways they can take care of themselves when change happens and Miss Caitlyn will share some of her favorite self-regulation activities.

  • Young people experiencing change due to COVID-19 or other unexpected forces.
  • Young people going to school for the first time.
  • Classrooms that are transitioning back to in-person learning.
  • Caregivers who are returning to work outside of the home and are leaving their child in someone else’s care.

  • What are some things that are changing for you?
  • What is COVID-19?
  • How do you know if you have COVID-19?
  • How do we keep ourselves and the people around us healthy?
  • How can we make ourselves feel better when change happens?
Before Watching
  • We encourage adults to watch with their young person. That way you can take in and process information together. Adults can also help by pausing the video and assisting their young person in answering and asking questions.
  • Make sure you are ready to dive into this topic. If you, the adult, or your child are actively experiencing heightened emotions (anxiety, fear, anger, etc.) around COVID-19 Safety and change, wait until you are both feeling more relaxed to discuss these topics.
  • If after watching this video or engaging with this topic your child becomes more anxious, overwhelmed or scared than you perceive is typical for them, it may be helpful to reach out to a medical or mental health professional. Resources can be located through your school or local healthcare facility.
