The Cast’s First Time Seeing The Nutcracker

Activity and Interviews
NYCCT's My First Nutcracker is designed as an introduction to the holiday classic for our youngest audience members - but when did our cast see The Nutcracker for the first time?
Creative Clubhouse KIDS

We asked the cast:

Tell us about your first time seeing The Nutcracker

The first time I saw The Nutcracker was probably when I was about 7 and my dance studio was putting it on. I was absolutely obsessed with it and loved all the different parts and characters. I auditioned the next year and was in it for the next 5 years after that!

Samuel St. Juste

Cavalier and Others

My mom could tell I had an interest in dance and one day when I was in second grade, she saw a contest to win tickets to see the local dance studio’s production of The Nutcracker – and she won! We went and the minute I got home I started to recreate the dances I saw that evening. It even started snowing when I got home as I was recreating the Waltz of the Snowflakes. I started taking dance lessons at that studio shortly thereafter and by the next year, I was playing Fritz in that same production. (I have a deep sense of gratitude to Ms. Beth Fecteau and Ms. Theresa who were my first dance teachers and cast me in this production!)
