DIY Craft | Make a Sailboat with Us!

In this week's Creative Clubhouse Story, Where the Wild Things Are, Max takes a sailboat to an island and then has an amazing adventure! Let's make our own sailboat today, and then check back on Wednesday to play monster games with Caitlyn!

Make a Sailboat with Us!

What You’ll Need

  • A Paper Plate
  • A Popsicle Stick
  • A Sheet of Construction Paper or Printer Paper
  • Crayons
  • Safety Scissors
  • Double Edge Tape or Glue

This project requires cutting. If you do not have safety scissors, make sure a grownup is helping you cut!

What To Do

What To Do

  1. Cut your paper plate in half.
If you do not have safety scissors, make sure a grownup helps you!
  2. Draw three triangles on your construction paper: a sideways small one for a flag, a medium sized one, and a large one.
  3. Cut out the triangles with your safety scissors.
If you do not have safety scissors, make sure a grownup helps you!
  4. Color in your boat. We used black for the wood and red for the boat like the book, but you can use any colors you’d like!
  5. Using your double edge tape or glue, attach your popsicle stick to the back of your boat.
  6. Using your tape or glue, attach your triangles to the popsicle stick to create the sail.
You may have to cut your triangles a little shorter to fit the boat, like we did! If you do, make sure a grownup is around to help!

And now you have your Sailboat!
