Melissa Hurd is a Director of Client Management in the Global Merchant & Network Services team within American Express. She leads a team of strategic consultants supporting travel partners finding opportunities to mutually grow business opportunities. She also leads the Marketing and Business Insights team developing leading-edge custom and scalable solutions and expanding American Express’ relationships with their airline partners.
Ms. Hurd joined American Express after ten years of brand management and corporate strategy experience with the Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington. During her Boeing career, she worked to develop strategic, integrated marketing plans to support airlines’ launch of new airplanes into service, specifically the 787 Dreamliner with Al Nippon and Japan Airlines as well as the 747-8 Freighter with Cargolux and Cathay Pacific. Additionally, she supported the development of new products in partnership with airlines; understanding customer requirements and long-term company strategy in order to provide the recommendation for future developments of the company’s highest-selling commercial product. She was one of the original brand managers for the 787 Dreamliner, responsible for the introduction and establishment of the new product across all marketing channels.
Since moving to New York City in 2012, Ms. Hurd has loved taking advantage of the many cultural opportunities, especially theater and music. She is now happily sharing these opportunities with her husband and young sons. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology as well as a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and is a very proud Fighting Irish.
