We are bearing witness to the continued injustice of racism in America. We stand with black communities in Minneapolis, NYC, and across the country as they grieve the painful results of these injustices and fight for their voices to be heard: Black Lives Matter.
Today, we are reaffirming our promise to serve all of New York City’s children. NYCCT will continue to promote diversity, teaching children that everyone’s story belongs on stage – and that their lives matter.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be providing resources for parents to have conversations with their children about race, empathy, and inclusivity. And as a theater, we will continue to support our black staff, theater artists, and teaching artists, reflect on how we contribute to the problems facing our society, and explore how we can further evolve into an organization that truly promotes social justice.
We know that, together, we can create creative, empathetic, and independent thinkers who will be the positive change we need in the world.
